While originally thought by many to be a glitch, a mod, or a Royal Edition update, Prompto in the Windows Edition has extra tattoos. They are not included on the console version of the game. These tattoos are on his left wrist.

They are only visible while wearing the Casual outfit. All other outfits do not have this tattoo visible.

At first these tattoos seemed to only be visible if the player had their graphics turned up to the highest settings but few have reported them visible on lower settings.

The star is a small star on the top of the left hand near the wrist.

The barbed wire is a simple pattern that goes all the way around the wrist.

While at first thought to be completely random, one of the tattoos did end up having a meaning. The star tattoo is actually found on the Zegnataus Keep key card that Noctis uses in Chapter 13.

While many thought the star might be a nod to Insomnia’s crest, the star actually ended up having ties to Niflheim.

The barbed wire seems to just be barbed wire since so far nothing has been found on anything in game to show otherwise.

No reason has ever been given as to why Prompto was given these tattoos with the release of the Windows Edition. Also no reason has ever been given as to why they are PC exclusive.
