Tours are special side quests that normally trigger while staying at a camp site. They usually involve Ignis, Gladio, or Prompto approaching Noctis before bed and asking him to help them with a task the next morning.

In order to trigger tours you must stay at specific camp sites. Not all camp sites will trigger a tour. For Prompto, he has three tours he will ask you to go on with him. All of them involve taking pictures of course.

The Hallowed Hill of Hammerhead

One of the first tours you can encounter is this one in Leide. This one will trigger if you stay at Palmaugh Haven. This campsite is to the East of Hammerhead near the Insomnia Blockade.

Prompto wants to take a picture of Cindy in Hammerhead. Simply follow Prompto to the marker, the hill overlooking Hammerhead, to trigger the scene. There’s three outcomes to this scene you can get, though the reward you receive will be the same no matter what choices you pick.

The best ending is chosing “Your grandpa taking a nap” as the final answer. Noctis will then say Prompto and Cindy should take a picture together standing on the hill overlooking Hammerhead. You’ll then get a chance to save the picture taken if you’d like.

The second best ending is chosing “A view of Hammerhead” as the final answer, while it won’t get Prompto a picture with Cindy she will ask him to share his pictures with her sometime.

If you chose “Come to take your picture” from the first choice, “Couldn’t wait to see you” from the second choice, or “Your pretty face, of course” from the third choice at any point during the scene, you’ll get the “worst” ending and the tour will end. Meaning if you pick the worst answer for the first choice the tour will end and you won’t get to the second choice, if you pick the good answer for the first choice and the worst answer for the second choice the tour will end and you won’t get to the third choice. Since the third choice is always the final choice, the tour will end after picking it. Prompto will have the same reaction regardless of which bad choice you choose.

Completing this tour awards you 20 AP.

Up Close and Personal

The second tour you’ll encounter is Up Close and Personal in Duscae. This one becomes available in Chapter 3. It will trigger by staying at Pullmoor Haven which is southwest of Coernix Station – Alstor, and northwest of Alstor Slough.

Prompto wants to take a close up shot of a Catoblepas at the Slough. This one involves searching the area of the map for three mushrooms (enticing truffles) for Prompto to collect to lure one close enough to take a picture. Simply walk around the quest area, when you get close enough to a mushroom Prompto will call Noct over and collect it. You’ll know you’ve gotten close to one if Noctis stops running and starts walking. Noctis doesn’t actually collect these items so you’ll have to get near where one is to trigger Prompto finding it. After you collect all three mushrooms head to the next marker near the water to trigger the scene.

You can take the picture at any time but if you let the creature get all the way up to Noctis you’ll get the “better” ending. Taking the picture far away results in Prompto being upset that it was too far away. You’ll still receive the same reward regardless of the outcome.

Also if you let the creature get all the way to you and you enter combat you can choose to kill it. Killing it doesn’t change the outcome either.

After taking the picture, run to the next marker to end the tour. If you let it get too close and choose to kill it, the tour will end automatically without running to the marker. The reward is the Vintage filter for Prompto and 20 AP.

Strike a Pose!

The final tour you’ll encounter is Strike a Pose! This one becomes available in Chapter 6 in the Cleigne region. This one is northwest of the Cape Caem lighthouse at the Spelcray Haven camp site.

This one is a simple tour. Simply go to the marker on the dock nearby and pose for Prompto each time he asks. You’ll be able to pose three times before the tour ends.

The reward for this tour is 20 AP.

The Motel Scene

While this isn’t a tour, it is worth mentioning here since completing this little scene does offer a reward.

Staying at a motel while out on the road (Lestallum’s motel does not count) will usually give you access to this scene where Prompto will join Noctis on the rooftop to chat. I seem to trigger it easily when staying at the Taelpar Rest Area. Longwythe Rest Area is another common motel to trigger it at.

You do have the option to send Prompto away at the beginning and even tease him later on during the dialogue. For the purpose of getting the best dialogue though (and cause I can’t bring myself to be mean to Prompto lol) I’ve only done the “best” dialogue options.
